Your Website on TV Screens?

Google announced plans today to bring web service to TV screens this fall. Um, isn't it already fall? That means pretty much now. Sony and Samsung have already agreed to carry the Google service on new models, and others are sure to follow suit. Oh, and the service is FREE for TV owners.
What does this mean to you? Most obviously, it means that if your website isn't representing your store just as well as your store represents your store, you'll be turning even more people off... and at 52 inches in size. And if you haven't yet integrated your social media sites into your store website, now would also be a great time to do that. The more you can expose new customers to raving comments from your current customers, the better, right?
What it also means is an incredible opportunity to drive customers directly from a TV ad to your website via this Google service. You should be considering how to leverage consumers' new ability to find your store on the web without ever leaving their love seat. And remember: a good call to action should always promise the most attractive benefits possible to the consumer. Maybe it's promoting an Internet special -- could be pricing, product, or even time-driven. Could be a URL that promotes a special holiday selection of merchandise for under $500.
If you try this sort of thing this holiday season, let us know what kind of results you see. I know most people won't have these TVs right away, but more and more will (especially after the holidays), and there's nothing that precludes folks from walking to their computers or firing up their old-fashioned iPads to track down your offers.
