INSTORE’s editors share their top picks from America’s coolest jewelers entries.

YOU’LL HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER MONTH to find out just which stores are the coolest of them all. Our panel of retail-expert judges has cast its votes, and the top five Big Cool and Small Cool stores will be revealed in our August issue. But in the meantime, we thought you might like to see a sampling of some of the best of the 115 entries we received in the 2011 America’s Coolest Jewelers Contest. This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam.
