Photograph every piece of jewelry in your store.
WHY? You never know when someone may want a photo to decide on a piece of jewelry. With photos on hand, you can e-mail one or a selection to customers right away.
HOW? The best way to photograph individual pieces is with a lightbox, available through photographic suppliers and jewelry suppliers. A higher-end point-and-shoot camera will work, but an SLR with a macro lens will give you the best results. Have doubts about your skills? Retailer Danny Alkayam of Daniel Diamonds in Evergreen, CO, attended a weekend course specific to jewelry photography at the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA.
