Tech For Your Store: May 2010

1. Superfit any ring design
Jewelers and custom designers can now download a design template that allows Superfit’s technology to be incorporated into any ring’s construction. The “patch” can be added during the CAD design process, eliminating the seams, solder and scrap metal that can result from trying to fit the company’s hinged mechanism after the piece is finished. * Information: www.superfitinc.com

The system includes a Radiant inventory reader and wand, a desktop reader, RFID jewelry tags and RFID software. Looking for a way to write off the expense of your shiny new iPad? Try these suggestions:
Presentation tool: The iPad’s perfect for showing images or videos during a sales presentation. We can see some of the bigger manufacturers creating iPad-customized videos for sit-down presentations to customers.
Portable portfolio: For custom designers, the iPad promises to be a cool way to show past work and new designs to clients.
Low-cost kiosk: Stylishly replace your “sign-up-for-our-mailing-list” sheet.
Learning tool: Staff can use it to watch training videos.
Remote business management tool: (Our favorite.) Imagine relocating to the Turks and Caicos Islands and running your store remotely, with all your important business information live and just a flick of the finger away.
