(Press Release)
LAS VEGAS – GJEPC, India presented the India Pavilion at JCK Las Vegas for the 13th consecutive year with 50 gem and jewelry exporters, including plain and studded diamond and colored gemstone jewelry.

Scheduled from June 3-6, the India Pavilion is spread across 81 booths located at the Diamond Plaza and the Passport Location. Indian manufacturers and retailers are exhibiting an array of gems and jewelry – including loose diamonds, loose colored gemstones, plain gold jewelry as well as diamond and colored stone studded jewelry.

The “India Gallery” at the “Passport” venue in Mandalay Bay showcases some of India’s finest jewels handpicked by the Council.

GJEPC Chairman Praveenshankar Pandya says, “India is burgeoning with vibrancy, passion and dynamism creating a niche for itself. The rise in the percentage share of Indian gems and jewelry imports to the USA reflects the retailer’s and consumer’s growing interest for jewelry from India. Today India accounts for 23 percent of jewelry imports by the USA. The platform like JCK Las Vegas plays an important role in further improving our trade relationship with the country.”

India recorded gem and jewelry exports amounting to $38.44 billion in 2015, out of which U.S. $8,706.59 million was exported to the U.S. Cut and polished diamonds exports accounted for U.S. $6,381.06 million, gold jewelry accounted for $1,681.62 million, and colored gemstones recorded $82.73 million in exports.

Keeping in mind the interests of Indian gem and jewelry products in the USA, this year the GJEPC organized the fourth India Diamond Week and the Indo-U.S. Business Development Conference (BDC) last year. While the India Diamond Week focused on trading of loose diamonds, the Indo-US BDC brought together speakers and Indian jewelry manufacturers on a common platform to share meaningful dialogue and explore business opportunities between the two partnering nations. The next India Diamond Week is scheduled for Aug. 16 at the Diamond Dealers Club in New York.

GJEPC, in its continuous effort to promote Indian gem and jewelry exports, undertakes various initiatives like the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), Asia’s largest gem and jewelry trade show, as well as organizing the niche jewelry trade fair Signature IIJS and India International Jewellery Week. GJEPC has been participating in various international shows such as the 2016 Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and Basel World 2016. The Council will be also organizing the India Pavilion at upcoming international shows like Singapore International Jewelry Expo, Vicenza Oro Fall, Bangkok Gem & Jewelry Show, MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show, Beijing International Jewellery Fair, Malaysia International Fair and Jewellery Arabia.

GJEPC has also been appointed as the Nodal Agency in India under the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme. The Council works closely with the government of India and the trade.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
