(Press Release)
NEW YORK, NY – The Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) elected Brandee Dallow, director of Rio Tinto Diamonds North America Representative Office, as the new president of the WJA International Board of Directors, with Jenny Luker of Platinum Guild International taking on the president-elect role. Dallow succeeds Andrea Hansen of LuxeIntelligence, who served for two years in the position.

Joining Dallow, Luker and Hansen on the 2016-17 WJA Board’s Executive Committee are Kristie Nicolosi of The Kingswood Company, treasurer, as well as two newly elected vice presidents: Michelle Peranteau of Baume et Mercier, vice president of administration; and Desiree Hanson of the NPD Group, vice president of chapter affairs.

"It is such an honor to be chosen to lead the Women’s Jewelry Association for the next two years," says Dallow. "This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I will endeavor to represent the WJA with the utmost transparency and boldness. I am looking forward to working alongside such a fantastic, diverse group of board members to further the mission of our great organization – developing creative and impactful programs and initiatives that inspire the next generation of female leaders in our industry."

"Passion and commitment are hallmark characteristics of our dedicated board volunteers," says Bernadette Mack, WJA’s executive director. "WJA is fortunate to be the beneficiary of the professional and creative excellence that this new slate of directors brings."

The WJA also elected three U.S. regional directors to further bridge communications between the international board and each of the WJA chapters: Danielle Ingwer Cohen of Leo Ingwer (Eastern); Sara Commers of Commers Custom Jewelers (Central); and Clare Ullman of Clare Ullman Designs (Western).

Ten newcomers, including two men for the first time in WJA’s history, have also been elected to the WJA Board. They include Cohen and Commers, as well as: Craig Danforth of the Gemological Institute of America, international affairs co-chair; Monica Elias of Elias World Media (EWM), sponsorship chair; Rebecca Moskal of Communique, events co-chair; Erin O’Donnell of Emerald Expositions; Maren Rosen of Stuller; Benjamin Smithee of The Smithee Group, education chair; Lauren Thompson of Jewelers of America, public relations coordinator; and Deborah Yonick of Yonick Writing Co., WJA Unplugged director. This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
