Etsy Bans Designer Who Sells Menstruation Jewelry

Lili Murphy-Johnson, a British jewelry designer who crafts accessories that represent phases of the menstrual cycle, has been banned by Etsy after the e-commerce site determined that some of the images she used were “inappropriate,” Women’s Health writes. Her collection, the article says, includes tampon charm bracelets, pad-inspired cocktail rings and broaches that look like blood stains. As she explained her cause to Cosmopolitan: “Periods aren’t something that happens on accident. I want this to be something that [people] actually choose to show, reclaim, and say, ‘Yeah, I have periods. Everyone does and this is my jewelry.’”
