She uses a very unusual raw material.
A Rochester, NY, woman is using her jewelry to send a message about the problem of e-waste.
Amanda Preske crafts necklaces, bracelets and other pieces using circuit boards, WTLV-TV reports. The boards come from old computers, cell phones and other devices, and she sells her jewelry on Etsy at Circuit Breaker Labs.
Preske’s Etsy bio explains that this is now a full-time business for her. She writes: “As a whole, the boards are often too complex to appreciate, but on the small scale of jewelry, small portions begin to resemble subway maps, cityscapes, and weird little worlds.”
Preske tells WTLV that while her jewelry in itself won’t help the planet, it will at least spread awareness that we’re creating too much e-waste.
