Proving “They Don’t Need to Try,” Supermodel Gets Understated Engagement Ring from Billionaire

When timeless style trumps net worth.

Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel is reportedly worth billions, but when he asked for supermodel Miranda Kerr’s hand in marriage, he did so holding a ring of classic, timeless style instead of a gaudier rock that many celebrity couples choose to represent their engagement, as US Weekly writes.

The article says that Spiegel presented Kerr – who announced her decision in the below Instagram post – “with an understated 2.5-carat ring featuring a round center stone flanked on both sides by a tapered diamond baguette.” (Though it’s still valued at $55,000, which isn’t exactly an accessible price point for lay folk.)

Speaking with the media outlet, jewelry expert Michael O’Conner says “Miranda’s ring is the quintessence of classic style and understatement. … Despite the reported billions Spiegel’s worth, the couple decided on a timeless style that proves they ‘don’t need to try.’ After so many over-the-top rings, this understated, more meaningful ring may be the newest — and best — we’ve seen in a while.”

I said yes!!!

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
