Staten Island Jeweler Among 17 Who Visit De Beers’ Victor Mine

Cory Schifter of Staten Island, New York, was among 17 jewelers nationwide selected by De Beers to tour the company’s Victor Mine in Northern Ontario, SILive.com reports. Schifter, owner of Casale Jewelers in Dongan Hills, says he and his fellow visitors saw the magnitude of the mining process. “I enjoyed touring the open pit mine and process plant, he says. The 17 also were inducted into the Forevermark Carat Club for selling the most one carat diamonds. After touring the mine, the group traveled to Sudbury, Ontario, to visit Forevermark Diamantaire Crossworks Manufacturing’s cutting and polishing factory.
