Hodinkee to Receive the 2023 GEM Award for Watch Excellence

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, and the GEM Awards Committee have announced Hodinkee will be the recipient of the GEM Award for Watch Excellence at the 21st annual GEM Awards on Friday, March 17, 2023. The GEM Awards, taking place at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, honors the outstanding achievements of individuals or companies whose work raises the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches. As the destination for all things watches and horology, visibility is something that Hodinkee knows a lot about.

“Hodinkee has been a driving force in the watch industry for consumers to become passionate and educated watch collectors,” says JA’s Director of PR and Events Amanda Gizzi.

Hodinkee is a destination for all things watches and horology. The brand offers rich storytelling and beautiful content, an e-commerce platform as an authorized dealer of over 40+ brands to easily shop for every style and price point, and best-in-class services like Hodinkee Insurance and Pre-Owned. Hodinkee is building a better world of watches, and brings ease and accessibility to all who share the same curious passion.

In addition to the GEM Award for Watch Excellence, Jewelers of America will be honoring the late Steven Kaiser with the posthumous GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement. GEM Award winners will be announced live in the categories of Jewelry Design (nominees Ron Anderson and David Rees, Ten Thousand Things; Anita Ko, Anita Ko; and Kirsty Stone, Retrouvai), Media Excellence (nominees Amy Elliott, Michelle Graff and Sarah Royce-Greensill), and Retail Excellence (nominees Greenwich St. Jewelers, Sotheby’s, and Zadok Jewelers).

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
