(PRESS RELEASE) Martha Seely Design announces a new interchangeable earring system, called the Lyra Collection, which will be introduced at the JCK Tucson Show in Booth DC5, from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3, 2018. JCK Tucson takes place at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, Tucson, AZ. The name Lyra refers to the famous constellation of stars in the northern sky, named by the ancient astronomer Ptolemy, who likened it to the lyre, a musical instrument with strings used in antiquity and later times.

The Lyra Collection features a unique system that starts with a close-to-the-ear earring in the form of an open swirl. Swirls and spirals, especially those seen in night skies, form the core motif of Seely’s designs. The earring comes with three elongated hoop dangles that quickly and safely hook onto the open swirl, at the back. A spring in the swirl earring holds the dangles in place securely.

The dangles can be worn separately or together, and Seely also features a variety of other dangling elements that can be purchased separately or as add-ons. There are also lots of options in price and metal, to make the system affordable for a range of customers.

“As a former costume designer, I’m approaching the Lyra Collection as a wardrobing system,” says Seely. “The original ensemble can be mixed with add-on accent elements that create a new look to fit a certain mood, time of day, or attitude. This keeps your customer coming back to you, for new elements and additional charms.”

The ensemble earrings are available in 14k yellow gold, mixed metals (sterling with gold clad wires), or in solid sterling silver, with options to add diamonds to gold elements. The outer and the inner hoop dangles feature the designer’s signature Shooting Stars design motif, a pierced-metal spiral “filigree” design that represents miniature galaxies. Thus, existing customers who have collected other Martha Seely designs featuring her Shooting Stars motif can coordinate their new Lyra earrings with other designs in rings, pendants, bracelets, and necklaces.

Seely will be updating and designing new accent elements to add seasonally, all of which will align with her themes of sky, stars, planet, and the universe. Existing charms and accent elements include a lightening bolt, the North Star, a dazzling sun, a sparkling gem-studded comet, a chain tassel, and a variety of colorful briolette gemstones and teardrop or round pearls. These added charms can snuggle inside one of the elongated hoops or dangle on their own. “The basic core system features six separate looks – and when you begin to add other charms and elements, the number of looks expands almost limitlessly,” says Seely.

The designer will be offering two “buy-in” packages – a higher-end luxury package, called Deluxe, and a more affordable Signature Collection featuring fewer elements and more silver. Each package will feature three full ensembles, including base earring and three hoop dangles as well as a number of other dangles and charms from which buyers can choose.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
