Burglars took millions of dollars in jewelry after entering a Los Angeles store by cutting a hole through a neighboring vacant property’s common wall, police said.
They broke through a 3-foot brick wall and disabled the store’s security cameras and alarm system, the Jewelers’ Security Alliance stated in a bulletin. They breached two of the store’s safes. The crime happened at about 9:30 p.m. on April 13.
The store was Love Jewels in the city’s downtown’s jewelry district, The Associated Press reported. The Los Angeles Police Department stated that at least $10 million in jewelry was taken, including pendants, gold chains and watches. The owner put the value at $20 million and said there was no insurance.
The suspects reportedly left in a late-model Chevrolet truck. Store employees discovered the theft when they got to work the next morning.
The L.A. Police Department is working with the FBI to investigate the crime, according to JSA.
JSA has also received a report of a recent safe attack burglary in Van Nuys, CA, and a vault attack burglary in Costa Mesa, CA. The burglary in Los Angeles represents the fourth safe and vault attack burglary that has been reported to JSA since March 5.

Closing With Confidence: How Bailey's Fine Jewelry Achieved Outstanding Results With Wilkerson
When Trey Bailey, President and CEO of Bailey's Fine Jewelry, decided to close the Crabtree location in Raleigh, North Carolina after 15 years, he knew the decision needed to be handled with intention and professionalism. The goal was clear: exit the location while maintaining financial strength and honoring the store's legacy.
Having worked with Wilkerson successfully in the past, Bailey understood the value of their comprehensive approach. "They understood both the emotional and financial sides of the store closing sale," Trey explains. "Their reputation for professionalism, results and care made it a very easy decision."
The results exceeded expectations. Wilkerson helped Bailey's sell through significant inventory while maintaining the dignity of the closing process. "They don't just run a sale, they help close a chapter in the best way possible," Bailey says, strongly recommending Wilkerson to any jeweler facing a similar transition.
