Accredited Gemologists Association Announces the Alan Hodgkinson Medal

Alan Hodgkinson

Named in memory of Alan Hodgkinson, the medal celebrates a legacy defined not only by professional excellence but also by generosity, mentorship, and a deep dedication to the gemological community. Throughout his career, Hodgkinson was known as a trusted colleague, generous mentor, and steadfast supporter of gem professionals worldwide.

The Alan Hodgkinson Medal recognizes individuals who embody these same values—those who give freely of their time and expertise, support their peers, and strengthen the profession through collaboration and service. The award emphasizes impact over prominence, honoring quiet leadership and sustained contributions that leave the gemological community stronger and more connected.

Key dates for the inaugural award:

  • Nominations open throughout the year
  • Voting period: June 5 – June 18, 2026
  • Medal presentation: February 3, 2027, at the AGA Gala in Tucson

The inaugural recipient will be honored at the AGA Gala, held in conjunction with the annual Tucson gem shows.
