(PRESS RELEASE) SAN DIEGO, California – ALOR International Ltd., the luxury jewelry company founded by Sandy and Jack Zemer in 1979, is celebrating its 40th year in business. Named for their two sons Ori and Tal and originally founded as a gold wholesale company, Sandy and Jack soon realized something was missing in the jewelry industry: designer brands. “The retailers were tired of all the same old gold chains, and they wanted something different, that is what we created,” says Sandy Zemer.

Soon after, the ALOR brand name was born into the world of jewelry. Combining Jack’s background as an engineer and Sandy’s knack for fashion, the two began designing, manufacturing and distributing what today is now iconic to the ALOR brand: stainless steel cable accented with 18kt gold and diamonds. Shortly after the launch of their initial collection, the ALOR brand found itself in high-end Couture retailers and department stores.

In honor of its four decades in business, ALOR will be launching four limited edition unique designs at the Couture Jewelry Fair in Las Vegas. Each individual piece will be limited to a production of only forty with a total of 160 in all. The designs will commemorate and have features of the ALOR product from the past 40 years, will be numbered and come with its own commemorative packaging and authorized certificate.

“It was important to me that our collections have value and to have a cache about it. That is why all of our designs needed to also have 18kt gold mixed with the cable,” says Sandy. Today, the ALOR brand comprises of many cable collections, 18kt solid gold collections, Swiss Made watches and an extensive bridal collection.

“I came to America at the age of 30 with nothing, and today I have built the American Dream as an entrepreneur,” says Jack Zemer. “The brand has given me more than I can have ever given it. I have learned so much from the business. Sandy and I want to thank all of our partners and retailers over the last 40 years for making our dreams come true.”

40 years later, the ALOR brand can be found in over 300 points of distribution worldwide, from the USA to Australia and from Mexico to China. The brand will be launching into the Middle East later this year.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
