ASSAEL Harnesses the Storytelling Power of Color

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, NY — Assael, North America’s premier source for magnificent pearls and exquisite coral, is exploring the evocative storytelling power of color with captivating new designs in Natural Conch Pearls, as well as new additions to its popular NatureScapes and Colors collections. These new jewels either feature rare pearls, such as conchs, or unusual, lesser-known gemstones such as dendritic agate, various types of jasper, petrified wood, mabe pearls, and more. The new styles will debut in late May 2024 at The Couture Show in Las Vegas. In addition, a new capsule collection of pearl jewelry for men will also debut.

“We have been exploring color in our designs for several years now, celebrating the vast array of colorful undertones in the magnificent and deep Assael pearl inventory. Our latest designs go beyond color, really capturing the storytelling quality of some of the patterns we find in natural gems,” said Peggy Grosz, senior vice president and creative director at Assael. “We are capitalizing on the landscapes within dendritic agates, jaspers, and petrified wood to evoke emotions and/or stories. We are also using diamonds to bring out the porcelaneous sheen in rare natural conch pearls or including mother-of-pearl and mabe pearls to highlight the natural process of pearl formation itself. It is exciting and more importantly, it feels very personal – each customer will react to these one-of-a-kind gems in its own unique way.”

New Conch Pearl Designs
Assael’s extensive inventory of fine and gem quality pearls includes natural non-nacreous pearls such as pink Conch pearls. Grosz has combined some of the rare, finer specimens of pink conch pearls with diamonds, aquamarines, and conch mother-of-pearl in beautiful new statement rings.

New NatureScapes
Also launching at The Couture Show will be new iterations of Assael’s NatureScapes collection that take storytelling in jewelry design to new heights. Large, sliced Boulder Opals are paired with Fijian pearls and Tanzanite to create the “Porthole” earrings, evoking the lookout windows in the stateroom aboard a Caribbean cruise. Sunset Jasper is paired with vibrant Sardinian Coral and tourmaline, calling to mind a fiery sunset above pristine blue waters on a rocky beach. Striped “Sunset” Chalcedony is topped by diamonds and cabochons of rare and responsibly sourced Angel Skin Coral, producing a harmony of hue in truly statement earrings. New designs also make use of Fijian Oyster Shells with blister/mabe pearls, with gold and diamonds, in very unique looks that pay tribute to the natural process of pearl formation.

When the Kids Have Their Own Careers, Wilkerson Can Help You to Retire

Alex and Gladys Rysman are the third generation to run Romm Jewelers in Brockton, Mass. And after many decades of service to the industry and their community, it was time to close the store and take advantage of some downtime. With three grown children who each had their own careers outside of the industry, they decided to call Wilkerson. Then, the Rysmans did what every jeweler should do: They called other retailers and asked about their own Wilkerson experience. “They all told us what a great experience it was and that’s what made us go with Wilkerson.” says Gladys Rysman. The results? Alex Rysman says he was impressed. “We exceeded whatever I expected to do by a large margin.”
