Gem Legacy Launches Campaign to Fund 28 Orphans’ New School Year

It’s for the 2019-2020 school year.

(PRESS RELEASE) ROYAL OAK, MI – Gem Legacy is launching its Back to School Giving goal of $15,400 to send 28 orphans ($550 each) to school for the 2019-2020 school year. Secondary school in East Africa is not paid by the government and the school fees are a large burden on orphanages and children’s homes.

The Mwatate Children’s Home houses over 30 children, age 5-18, in the region of southern Kenya where Tsavorite Garnet is found. The children are all orphans or do not have a family to live with for various reasons and the home supports them mentally, emotionally, and physically. The Home seeks to ensure that the orphans are equipped to flourish as adults when they need to leave the home.

“The Mwatate Children’s home is a community effort and their success in supporting the kids has been largely due to the presence of gemstones, but the need is greater than their ability to support,” said Roger Dery, founder of Gem Legacy. “Our vision is that the greater global gem and jewelry community can rally to ensure that these orphans have the best education available to them.”

Supporters can contribute monetarily or donate children’s books which allow the kids to practice their knowledge of English in the evening. Lightly used baby books, children’s books through 8th grade reading level, learning to read books, and series are appreciated. For more information about Gem Legacy, Inc. or to donate, please email info@gemlegacy.org or visit gemlegacy.org. Gismondi1754 Launches New Dedalo Collection

It is reflective of the connected streets fitting together like a puzzle in the old Genoa town center.

(PRESS RELEASE) GENOA, IT — In Genoa, the “Vicoli”, is renown for its narrow lanes that zigzag across the heart of town. Paved in cobblestones that have remained untouched for centuries, the intricate streets are a journey from top to bottom and every nook in town, only accessible on foot. It is here, the heart of the city of the Gismondi Family business where Massimo Gismondi had his fondest childhood memories and where he continues to create his designs seven generations later.

With his love for the city, Gismondi created his new Dedalo Collection. Dedalo, which translates to maze, is reflective of the connected streets fitting together like a puzzle in the old Genoa town center which remains untouched and special to the city and region. Representing community, discovery, and connectivity, Massimo wanted to create an architecturally interesting and interconnecting links to pay homage to his seven generation history in the port town with this new collection.

From the top to the bottom of the town, Massimo drew inspiration from the interconnected maze of the old town center. Home to shops, vintage churches, ancient monuments, and more – which is the true essence of Genoa and the discovery of much hidden splendor. This simple, high polished gold collection for men and women is sleek and modern. But its hidden messaging is the architectural inspirations Massimo infused. The base design is similar to an interconnecting “grid” mimicking the zigzagging of the streets in his beloved home town.

“I am truly excited for my new collection, Dedalo. It is very different from what I usually do but I thought it would be nice to change it up and create something that can be worn everyday. Also, I wanted to be able to capture my homes essence in something that I can share with the world, and I think this collection did just that,” says Massimo Gismondi.
