(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Aurelie Gi, Chic Pistachio’s demi-fine luxury jewelry brand, in partnership with jewelry influencer Ashley Davis (@ashleylikesgems), The Seven West Village, and Gesswein hosted a “Permanent for Paws” jewelry zapping event in New York City in mid-December, raising enough money for six international freedom flights from Seoul, Korea, as well as U.S. customs clearance, to rescue and re-home six at-risk dogs through the work of passionate volunteers from the WeACT dog rescue charity. The popular permanent jewelry trend created quite a buzz as Aurelie Gi’s “For Keeps” collection made its NYC debut at The Seven West Village, a charming new luxury boutique in the heart of Greenwich Village. Guests chose their favorite 14K recycled gold permanent bracelet, with or without personalized charms, and got “zapped” with Gesswein’s laser welder. A few attendees brought their dogs to the store, adding to the fun and reminding attendees of the real reason for the event.
“Aurelie Gi is honored to have been part of such a meaningful mission,” says Katherine Whitacre, national sales director for the Aurelie Gi brand. “Not only did sales of our permanent bracelets generate over $3,000 in dog rescue funds, but we also created a beautiful and lasting experience for all the women and men who got zapped in the store that day. We are incredibly grateful to Ashley Davis, the team at The Seven West Village, Greg Gesswein, and Ramon Andino for helping us create such an emotional, tangible, and lasting impact.”
Dozens of attendees browsed the For Keeps design motifs, selecting the bracelet and charm(s) of their preference, customizing each to their own desired length. Veteran bench jeweler Ramon Andino used the loaned Gesswien PUK 6 Welder with SM6 Microscope and Flow Regulator to permanently clasp and seal a dainty gold jump ring on each bracelet for long term wear. The fun “zapping” service created a memorable pre-holiday shared experience for guests and generated buzz on social media. Knowing that all proceeds from the event were going to dog rescue made it all the more meaningful.
Hostess Ashley Davis of @ashleylikesgems, “I have never encountered a group of people as generous as the ones I’ve met in the jewelry industry. The teams at Aurelie Gi, The Seven West Village, and Gesswein created life changing impact through this event, giving dogs rescued from horrific circumstances the opportunity to find loving homes. That gift cannot be understated. I’m so proud to have played a part in this to support WeACT, who saved my two precious dogs from the Korean meat trade.”
According to Camille Zarsky, owner of The Seven West Village, “I’ve always had a big place in my heart for dogs and for jewelry! Combining these two passions made this event a joy for me to be a part of. It is a privilege for my new boutique in Greenwich Village to host such a meaningful, fun, and memorable event.”
“I’m a dog lover and support the health and safety of all animals,” says Roger Gesswein, vice president of Gesswein who loaned the welder used to permanently clasp the bracelets sold at the event. “Our PUK6 gives jewelers not only the power to handle larger welding jobs and the accuracy required for delicate tasks, but also the technology and ergonomics to make welding easy and comfortable.”
