(PRESS RELEASE) CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, a family owned-and-operated jeweler with locations in Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Cary and Greenville, is expanding its footprint to Charlotte with the acquisition of Morrison Smith Jewelers. Located at 705 Providence Road in Myers Park, Morrison Smith has been a cornerstone of Charlotte’s fine jewelry landscape for more than 70 years.

Bailey’s has officially taken over operations and will work with the current Morrison Smith team to ensure a successful and smooth transition over the coming months.

The acquisition is more than just a business move – it’s the merging of two deeply rooted, family-owned jewelers with a shared history and values. The Smith and Bailey families have been connected for generations with Charles Smith, the father of former Morrison Smith president Chuck Smith, serving as mentor to Clyde Bailey, father of Bailey’s Fine Jewelry president and third-generation owner, Trey Bailey. The relationship between the two families has spanned decades, making this transition a natural and meaningful evolution.

“A decision like this is not one that’s taken lightly,” said Chuck Smith. “It was extremely important to us that we found a company that aligned with our family values and dedication to exceptional customer service. The parallels between Morrison Smith and Bailey’s are numerous and we knew it would be a great fit for everyone.”

“Morrison Smith is synonymous with quality and excellence in the Charlotte market,” said Trey Bailey. “It’s such a well-respected and well-run business and we look forward to continuing that legacy while bringing the Bailey’s experience to Charlotte.”

Bailey’s will continue to offer Morrison Smith’s renowned repair and custom design services, as well as its extensive collection of fine jewelry. In addition, Bailey’s will introduce a wider selection of diamonds and engagement rings, along with expanded designer jewelry offerings.
