(PRESS RELEASE) CHICAGO — BriteCo (www.brite.co) the innovative jewelry appraisal and insurance provider and the American Society of Appraisers (www.appraisers.org), the leading professional society representing all appraisal discipline to include gems and jewelry appraisers, announced a strategic partnership that provides BriteCo’s network of more than 1800 retail jewelers with professional education opportunities through ASA’s newly released Fundamentals of Jewelry Appraisal (FJA) course.

Scheduled to debut online in early 2021, the course is designed to provide students with the core competencies that every professional appraiser needs to accurately value gems and jewelry for scheduled insurance coverage. Presented live by an Accredited Senior Appraiser with over four decades of experience in the jewelry industry and related fields, students will learn the basic skills to confidently appraise gems and jewelry. At the conclusion of the class, BriteCo will provide its jeweler partners an additional educational module featuring a hands-on demonstration using the automated BriteCo Appraisal System. Upon successful completion of the class, students will receive a certificate of completion from the American Society of Appraisers. The FJA certificate of completion will also be integrated into BriteCo’s cloud-based appraisal system as an optional addition to jeweler credentials.
In addition, ASA is offering BriteCo’s jeweler partners (who are not currently members of ASA) a 20% discount on the Fundamentals of Jewelry Appraisal course as well as three free months as an Ally Member of ASA.

“In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, retail jewelers are becoming more engaged in the digital world to attract new customers, become more efficient, and improve their appraisal skills and offerings,” according to BriteCo founder and CEO Dustin Lemick. “By joining forces with ASA, we are providing jewelers a comprehensive technology tool to streamline the appraisal process and apply the professional knowledge and expertise they gain from this new ASA course.”

“We’re excited to be working with BriteCo, and helping retail jewelers find creative ways to improve their appraisal skills and knowledge as they leverage digital technology and education to grow their businesses,” says Johnnie White, CEO of ASA. “This partnership will help provide retail jewelers with the skills and knowledge needed to understand and properly apply the principles of appraising gems and jewelry.”

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
