Canadian Chain Closes, Taking Service Plans With It

Some lifetime warranties don’t last a lifetime.

Canadian chain Ben Moss Jewellers has gone into creditor protection and is closing, and customers are learning that they won’t be benefiting from lifetime service plans they purchased from the company, according to Vancouver’s News 1130. The report says the company, which is liquidating all its assets and plans to be out of business by year’s end, sent a letter to customers telling them it would stop honoring the plans. The Better Business Bureau is telling customers they can file claims as creditors and perhaps get some money back, although that outcome is unlikely.
