THERE’S NOTHING like a designer getting a jewel into a film, especially on an iconic actress like Cate Blanchett. When legendary costume designer Ellen Mirojnick reached out to Bee Goddess founder Ece Sirin, with whom she had previously worked on Emily in Paris and Cinderella, Sirin provided the perfect ring for Blanchett’s character in Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller Blag Bag. The character, Kathryn St. Jean, is mysterious; she wears masks and carries many secrets while trying to juggle her personal life and her professional role. Her wardrobe is that of a sleek, elegant spy, but there is the Venus Star ring that both Mirojnick and Sirin discuss with us below:

Ellen, why did you choose the Venus Star ring for Black Bag?
It had a powerful presence. It wasn’t just beautiful. It was iconic. The Venus Star carries themes of love, strength and inner clarity. Those qualities were essential to Cate’s character as we watch her secrets come out and watch as the mystery fades. And visually, the ring is unforgettable — elegant, sculptural and radiant.

Ece, how did it feel to see Cate wear the Venus Star throughout the film?
Incredible. The Venus Star is one of our most beloved designs; it represents divine love and radiant femininity. Cate has worn Bee Goddess many times before — including our Eye Light necklace, pieces from the Queen Bee collection and Sword of Light to her UN speech, which was such an honor. She already embodies the Bee Goddess spirit, so the ring felt like it belonged to her character.

Ellen, you have worked with Ece and Bee Goddess Before?
I collaborated with Ece for Cinderella as well. Her designs brought more magic and symbolism to that story. What I love about her work is that it’s not just about style — it‘s about meaning. She creates myths with her jewelry. That’s rare. And that’s why I come back.

Ece, please talk a little bit more about your jewelry. There is definitely a celestial theme.
Our brand is built on celestial and symbolic language. Our jewels are talismans — they’re made for women who want to shine their light. That’s why they resonate in films and TV shows. Whether it’s Black Bag, Cinderella or the upcoming Emily in Paris season in Rome, there’s a common thread: These are empowered, confident women, and Bee Goddess becomes part of their story.

Ece, why do you think talisman and in particular celestial jewelry continues to trend?
People want more depth, soul and connection. Jewelry is our silent language — it says who we are, what we stand for.

Ece, what’s next?
We are returning for another season of Emily in Paris, which is very exciting. And more collaborations with storytellers who understand the power of symbolism. For us, it’s always about light, love and legacy.

I personally can’t wait to see the film. The ring is on sale on the Bee Goddess website. So you can purchase one before the movie even arrives in theaters.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
