Columbia Gem House Ignites Responsible Sourcing at Tucson Gem Shows

(PRESS RELEASE) With forty-five years in the business and over twenty dedicated to responsible sourcing, Columbia Gem House (CGH) plans to showcase in Tucson what it means to have a positive impact in the colored gemstone industry. Navigating the supply chain challenges of Covid-19, the CGH team has been busy sourcing new materials, testing new cutting styles and continuing to partner within (and outside of) the industry to make a positive impact with their work.

The Tucson gem shows will be CGH’s culmination of the last 18 months of various projects and the incredible gemstones that have come to life as a result. You will find the brand at both the AGTA GemFair Tucson as well as the Ethical Gem Fair – Tucson with lots of new gems to explore.

AGTA GemFair Tucson (CGH Booth 1117)
Tuesday, February 1st – Sunday, February 6th | 10-6PM Tues-Sat, 10-4PM Sun

As one of the founding members of AGTA, CGH will exhibit at the AGTA GemFair Tucson (booth #1117) held at the Tucson Convention Center. With show specials on an expansive inventory selection, you will find anything from traditional faceted gems to creative designer cuts, all responsibly sourced worldwide and then cut by CGH in its workshop. At the booth, you can learn more about the brand’s Principles & Protocols and how the team manages responsible production in bringing Fair Trade GemsTM to market.

During the show, you can also join CGH’s Founder and President, Eric Braunwart, at his AGTA GemFair Tucson panel discussion on Thursday, February 3rd from 1-2PM in the Graham Room.

  • Designer-Retailer Open Discussion: Consumer Views on Responsibly Sourced Gems & Impacts on the Supply Chain
Eric Braunwart will be joined by a panel of designer-retailers to discuss consumer views on responsibly sourced gems and how that has evolved their work and/or businesses over the last 5 years. They will also discuss the differences between business practice vs. marketing tactics and how this ultimately impacts the supply chain. This group will gather audience questions upon arrival, which will lead the discussion and open the floor for audience participation.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
