THE 67TH GRAMMY AWARDS went on after much debate due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
Although the show celebrated the stars of the music industry, it also represented the resilience, strength and unity of LA. Additionally this year’s presentation displayed how music can lift the spirits.
There were diamonds galore — standout pieces that were anything but laid back.
Cynthia Erivo, whose jewelry style we have written about many times, took her look to the max, styled by Jason Bolden. When interviewed on the red carpet, she said she was in theme for the number — “Fly Me to the Moon” — she planned to sing as part of the evening’s Quincy Jones tribute. She showed off her her manicured nail jewels of stars and moons and other celestial motifs as she spoke.
Many of the other jewels that she wore with her Louis Vuitton gown were designed by Messika Diamond Jewelry — bold diamond bracelets, one on each wrist, along with her traditional curated lobes with other designers like FoundRae combined into the ear party.
Perhaps the most talked about jewelry: the stunner of a cushion cut ring and eternity band on her left ring finger, which sparked rumors that she had gotten engaged or married to longtime partner Lena Waithe. But soon after the stories came out, she told People magazine that they were other loaned rings for the evening.

But oh what an engagement ring the cushion cut would have been!
Erivo provided an extraordinary performance singing the famous Frank Sinatra song that Jones arranged in 1964, accompanied on the piano by Herbie Hancock. For the performance she wore another Messika standout diamond choker that shone almost as brightly as the star herself.
