DANAT Organized the First International Pearl Symposium

Launching the first of its kind service around the world – “The Pearl Classification”.

(PRESS RELEASE) MANAMA — Bahrain Institute of Pearls & Gemstones “DANAT” held the first international “Pearl Symposium”. The two-day event is taking take place at Shaikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture & Research in Muharraq across the Pearl Path trail and gathers local and international speakers with various number of pearl experts from different countries around the world.

The Pearl Symposium aims to strengthen the reputation of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leading regional and international centre in the field of pearl trade, research and third-party verification and to present a complete picture of natural pearls and its characteristics and privileges.

DANAT opened the Symposium with a press conference held at Shaikh Ebrahim Centre. Speaking at the event were the chairman of DANAT Mr. Yaser Al Sharifi, DANAT’s CEO Ms. Noora Jamsheer and the president of CIBJO Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri.

Mr. Al Sharifi announced that DANAT is hosting The World Jewelry Confederation Congress “CIBJO 2019” under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, The Prime Minister, which will take place November 18-20 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Manama.

The Pearl Symposium organized by DANAT underlines the significant role of the Institute in discussing the major challenges faced by natural pearl and cultured pearl markets.

Speaking at the Symposium, Ms. Noora Jamsheer announced DANAT’s launch of the classification system for natural pearls with nacre, as the first service of its kind, in the world, to standardize natural pearls.

“The Pearl Symposium aims to enhance the confidence of consumers and the public in DANAT as the top Institute in the world to provide pearl grading services. The organization of this Symposium contributes to establishing Bahrain and DANAT as leading powers in the natural pearl markets,” added Ms. Jamsheer.

For his part, President of CIBJO Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri stressed the importance of this symposium and said: “Highlighting this region of the world as one of the most important places of pearl extraction, inspection and trading. The Kingdom of Bahrain now has an integrated pearl system with DANAT.”

Dr. Cavalieri expressed his full support for the Pearl Symposium, stressing the importance of holding this Symposium periodically from the Kingdom of Bahrain to all the countries of the region and the world.

Then the Symposium started by a lecture “Bahrain and its aquatic environment” by H.E Dr. Mohammed Bin Daina, executive chief of the supreme council for environment in Bahrain.
