ELLE FANNING WORE it well as always at the Critics Choice Awards. I don’t remember a time when she didn’t shine as brightly or as radiantly as her jewels. During this writing, the wind chill in New York is at 0 degrees, so perhaps that made me even more excited about her one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth Golden Blossom Sunflower earrings and other floral pieces, which reminded me that spring will be here soon.  Set with diamonds and aquamarines, they took center stage as one of the best jewels of the evening.

Fanning also wore fingers full of Neuwirth’s rings, including more floral motifs in the Classic Aquamarine Posy Ring and Small Super Bloom Flower Ring. The rest of her fingers were decked out in the Classic Gold Bands that are a staple of Neuwirth’s.

Fanning has set trends in recent years during every event she attended, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice International Film Festival. She has given new life to hair jewels by wearing renowned houses’ high jewelry or heritage brooches, whether she’s donning a shorter bob or long locks. She has also worn antique and vintage jewelry, enticing a new generation of women to make pieces from the past look chic and modern. And when she graced the red carpet at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards in a Gucci tuxedo with Cartier High Jewelry necklace in 18K white gold, morganite and brown and white diamonds, she set the stage for mixing masculine and feminine with ease and a strong sense of style.

I was thrilled to see Fanning in Neuwirth’s jewels, as Fanning is usually on the red carpet in Chopard, Tiffany & Co., Cartier and other legendary jewelers.

Neuwirth’s pieces have been worn on the red carpet before – think about when our jaws dropped as Ruth Negga stepped on the 2017 Academy Awards red carpet in the awe-inspiring ruby tiara/headband. Neuwirth created the piece especially for Negga, who was nominated for Best Actress for Loving. Working with Gemfield’s Mozambique rubies, Neuwirth also created diamond and ruby earrings and ring for the look, which influenced the return of rubies and other red gemstones.

Getting back to Fanning, I always look forward to see what she will wear next, and hopefully it will be another independent designer’s extraordinary designs.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
