Lily Collins has recovered her engagement ring nearly three years after it was stolen from her locker at a West Hollywood hotel spa, and a Chicago jeweler is at the center of the story.
Joe Hakimian, who brands himself as Joe the Jeweler and owns both Hakimian Imports and Rose Estate Jewelers in Chicago’s Diamond District, told ABC7 Chicago (VIDEO AVAILABLE) he purchased the ring at a trade show before realizing it belonged to Collins. He returned it to the actress shortly after.
Hakimian told the Chicago Tribune (SUBSCRIBER ONLY) he bought the ring at a New York trade show six months ago, then realized weeks later whose ring it was.
Collins, who stars in the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris,” posted a selfie on Instagram Stories in early March showing the ring back on her finger. “Having this home means SO much to us,” she wrote. “I’m still speechless it’s back on my finger.”

The ring, designed by Irene Neuwirth, is a one-of-a-kind rose-cut diamond valued at more than $80,000, according to British Vogue. Collins’s wedding band and electronic devices were also taken in the May 2023 theft, which was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff. No arrests were made.
Collins was engaged to writer-director Charlie McDowell in September 2020 and the couple married in September 2021.
