Eva Longoria and Cynthia Erivo Prove It’s Time to Wear Large Yellow Gold Watches

TWO TRENDS ARE emerging in watches: one that we are seeing on celebrities, and one that we are seeing emerge from renowned jewelry houses.

The watch trend we are witnessing on the red carpet is for large bold yellow gold men’s watches on the wrists of women, like the one Eva Longoria was recently spotted wearing at the 68th Taormina Film Festival 2022 in Italy. The oversized yellow gold watch, which looks as though it has an orange dial and might be a Rolex, was worn with a variety of textured link and bangle bracelets on her wrist, as well as layered chains combined with a diamond necklace around her neck and a variety of rings on her fingers.

This mixing of trends in jewels with an attention-grabbing timepiece was also seen on Cynthia Erivo, who wore one to the BET Awards. In addition to wearing multiple diamond rings (accentuated by her nail art) and mismatched earrings worn in multiples, Erivo added a statement watch on her wrist.

These two examples of large gold watches being worn by female celebrities comes on the heels of Rihanna recently sporting a customized yellow gold Rolex. With yellow gold continuing to go strong, will the trend to these more showy watches wind up on the wrists of us real girls?

On the other hand, we could go the way of renowned houses such as Gucci, Bulgari, Hermes and Van Cleef & Arpels, which recently showcased timepieces worn everywhere but on the wrist — from rings, to padlock watches, to intricate pendants on equally intricate chains.

Either way, one thing is certain: It’s about time to wear standout watches like we wear our other jewels.
