Gunfire Exchanged in Jewelry Store Robbery Attempt in Florida

Two people suspected of acting as getaway drivers in the crime have been arrested.

Gunfire was exchanged during a robbery attempt at a jewelry store in Ellenton, FL.

It happened Aug. 14 at Gold Palace jewelry store at Ellenton Premium Outlets, the Bradenton Herald reported. Police said two men wearing masks entered the business and one of them fired a gun toward the back of the business. An employee then returned fire, according to authorities.

None of the shots hit anyone, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The men fled the scene in what was believed to be a silver Toyota Highlander. They remain at large.

Two people suspected as acting as getaway drivers in the crime have been arrested: Ronnie Wilson, 42, and Markeice Craft, 38. They’ve been charged with armed robbery.
