(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The renown of The Plumb Club and its esteemed roster continue to expand with another distinguished company, Heavy Stone, being added to its membership. The Club represents well over 100 jewelry, watch and service brands.

Roger Forman, president of The Plumb Club, as well as its member, Marathon Company, commented, “We are always happy to welcome innovative, quality companies to the membership of The Plumb Club and we are excited to welcome Heavy Stone as our newest member. The quality and selectivity of our membership illustrates our commitment to helping retailers navigate vendors and identify exceptional, first-class companies to work with.”

Heavy Stone, headquartered in Vineyard, Utah, got its start 22 years ago when one guy, who just so happened to be pretty good with machines, helped his sister make a tungsten wedding band for her groom. In fact, the word “tungsten” is Swedish for “heavy stone.” Today, Heavy Stone continues a tradition of superior modern metal wedding band manufacturing, but also offers a broad selection of precious metal designs too. Heavy Stone serves fine jewelers across America and Canada in the independent, mid-major, and majors sectors. As one of the only wedding band companies to manufacture both precious and modern metal designs right here in America, Heavy Stone is a key partner for jewelers in custom design. Quite simply – when jewelers get wonderful or weird custom job requests, Heavy Stone is there. The company also offers turnkey programs that make retailers money at the counter. Heavy Stone believes in making product with touch, keeping promises and being one of the “good guys” in the jewelry business.

According to Katie Keefe Smith, CEO and co-owner, “The Plumb Club represents the best in American jewelry manufacturing and supply. We are honored to be a member and motivated to help shape the future of jewelry with our fellow members. We think the best is yet to come.”

All Plumb Club Members must meet stringent requirements of business ethics, practices and conduct, as well as human rights, social and environmental responsibility, and be in compliance with local, federal and international laws. All Plumb Club Members are certified members of The Responsible Jewelry Council.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
