ICA Announces New Board of Directors

The new Board took office at the ICA Board of Directors Meeting in Dubai last week.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) announces the 2023 Board of Directors, led by new President, Damien Cody. Cody hails from Australia and is the principal of Cody Opal (Australia) Pty Ltd. The new Board took office at the ICA Board of Directors Meeting in Dubai last week.

Joining Cody are new Directors Oren Eliezri, Israel; Claudia Hamann, Germany; Kengo Kajita, Japan; Vijay Kedia, India; Benedicte Lavoie, Canada; Lucas Senrong Liu, China; Armil Sammoon, Sri Lanka; Samir Sukhadia, Thailand; and Ashish Vijay, UAE. ICA Directors serve a two-year first term.

The new officers of the Board are Vice President Phuket Khunaprapakorn, Thailand; Vice President Rocco Gay, Italy; Secretary Altaf Iqbal, Sri Lanka; Secretary Duncan Mclauchlan, United Kingdom; and Treasurer Sushil Goyal, United States.

Leaving the Board are Warren Boyd, Canada; Chen Shen, China; and Kobi Sevdermish, Israel. Saurabh Bansal, Germany; Captain Ramji Sharma, Japan; and Henry Ho, Thailand will move into Advisory positions. Former President Clement Sabbagh, Brazil will move into the Immediate Past President position. Mr. Chang Hatta will serve as a Special Advisor to the Board.

Those Board members continuing their terms are Ioannis Alexandris, Germany; Daniel Bronfen, Brazil; Evan Caplan, United States; Guillermo Galvis, Colombia; Shahina Hatta, Hong Kong; Miriam Kamau, Kenya; Dwarka Khandelwal, India, Pearl Ng, United Kingdom; and Mark Tremonti, Australia.

“We are so grateful to the ICA members who volunteer their time to serve on the Board of Directors,” said Douglas K. Hucker, ICA CEO. “It can be a lot of work to sit on a Board, in addition to running your businesses. The past few years have been difficult for everyone, but thanks to the guidance of Clement Sabbagh and our ICA Board, the ICA is strong and growing. I look forward to working with our new President, Damien Cody and our new Board. There are exciting things on the horizon for ICA and the colored gemstone industry!”
