(PRESS RELEASE) DUBAI — The International Gemological Institute (IGI), the world’s largest independent gemological laboratory, has been designated as the knowledge partner for Dubai Gold and Jewelry Group’s “City of Gold” initiative starting immediately. In this capacity, the Institute will provide interactive seminars for industry professionals across a diverse range of topics to continue to elevate the market’s reputation as a powerhouse and trading hub of precious metals, stones and jewels. By providing its world class expertise to an epicenter of the trade, IGI continues to expand its reach as a global leader of education and thought leadership for jewelry and retail professionals.
“The Institute is honored to be a key stakeholder in the continued development of this emerging global jewelry market and values its partnership with Dubai Gold and Jewelry Group,” remarked IGI Middle East Managing Director Shaunak Shastree. “This alliance is made up of influential organizations in Dubai, and IGI looks forward to contributing a series of enriching seminars for participants.”
Sessions led by the Institute will be available to jewelers and their retail staff under DGJG membership both online and in-person. Each seminar, led by IGI Dubai instructors, will last two to three hours. Topics for each forum will differ, with select subjects including: product and visual merchandising, jewelry designing, the allure of ruby, emerald and sapphire, differences between natural, synthetics and simulants, and more. With the Institute’s 45-year history as an industry leader, participants will have the opportunity to explore areas of interest with a refined perspective in an exclusive setting.
“As a global institute, IGI prioritizes the interconnection between different jewelry markets, and its commitment to Dubai strengthens the sector as a whole,” said IGI CEO Roland Lorie. “This campaign will offer professionals and consumers in one of the most well-known regions the opportunity to develop their skills from a renowned grading authority, such as IGI.”
The classes are available now through next August and can be registered through DGJG. To learn more about IGI and the Institute’s offerings, visit www.igi.org and gemblog.igi.org.
