Bright Night: Trends from the 84th Academy Awards

Written by

WHITE HOT was one of the main themes we saw during red carpet arrivals in simple sheaths or shimmering cleavage-baring gowns and sparking white diamonds.

Here the trend is most apparent in wider than wide bracelets, large rings and dazzling drop earrings, worn best by Gwenyth Paltrow in Anna Hu ultra wide cuff, Jennifer Lopez in Lorraine Schwartz earrings, Octavia Spencer in Neil Lane Earrings and Mila Jovovich in Jacob & Co. jewelry.

We were also SEEING RED as Emma Stone graced the red carpet in a red gown as well as a ruby earring and a great bracelet by Louis Vuitton and Natalie Portman wore Harry Winston’s firey diamonds, the showstopper of which was a bold diamond necklace.

Speak of which, while earrings and bracelets still made the strongest showing in jewelry — necklaces did make a comeback in the always classically elegant diamond rivière on both Michelle Williams (who was dressed to perfection) and on the beautiful Penelope Cruz who was wearing a Chopard version.

Special mention goes to Viola Davis in her green Vera Wang dress and emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings Tina Fey’s sapphire Bulgari Chandelier earrings.
