MONTCLAIR, NJ (July 22, 2019) — INSTORE was honored as one of the top 25 publications in business-to-business publishing for the fifth consecutive year, while winning two other honors, in the 2019 Tabbie Awards organized by Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI).

INSTORE earned 22nd place in the competition’s premier category, “Best Single Issue,” for its May 2018 edition.

The magazine has placed in the top 25 in the international competition every year since 2015.

INSTORE’s Eileen McClelland also earned a 6th place finish in the “Best Feature Article” category for her story, “Life On The New Frontier: How Internet Sales Are Changing the Landscape of Jewelry Retail.”

In the “How-To Article” category, INSTORE writer Julie Fanselow won an honorable mention for her February 2018 article, “Chief Charming: 16 Ways to Win Your Employees’ Love Without Losing Their Respect.”

SmartWork Media also earned four other awards for its jewelry and eyecare publications, with PETS+ earning three nods and INVISION one. The seven awards bring the company’s total since 2004 to 142, making SmartWork Media one of the most highly decorated publishers, per title, in the world.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
