INSTORE Wins FOLIO Award for Best B2B Retail Magazine
INSTORE won a FOLIO gold for its May 2019 issue.

(PRESS RELEASE) MONTCLAIR, NJ – INSTORE’s May 2019 issue took home gold honors in the prestigious FOLIO Eddie & Ozzie Awards, announced in New York on Wednesday, October 30.

The May 2019 issue, which won in the category of best full issue (B2B retail), focused on the theme of inspiring dramatic change and was highlighted by the lead story “Revolution: Big Ideas That Are Reshaping the Future of Jewelry Retail”.

SmartWorkMedia won a total of six honors, including two other gold awards, in the FOLIO Awards.

Gold winners included the company’s magazine for pet professionals, PETS+, for its June 2018 issue in the B2B Animals/Pets Category and a best website honor in the B2B healthcare category for INVISIONMAG.COM, the company’s media for independent eyecare professionals.

Honorable mention winners included INVISION for best full issue (Nov-Dec 2018) in the B2B healthcare category, as well as an instructional/how-to award for INVISION (“Epic Fail”, April 2019 issue) and a feature design award for PETS+ (“Lab Work”, February 2019 issue).

The competition, which attracted more than 2,500 entries in 33 categories, recognized publications for overall excellence in print and digital design, as well as breaking news coverage, feature writing and how-to articles.

“These awards signal a vote of confidence to our marketing partners that they are investing in best-of-class publications and digital content platforms,” says Matthijs Braakman, publisher and chief executive officer of SmartWork Media.

“We continue to be extremely proud of our editorial products, both print and online, and are confident that we’re bringing readers some of the very best content and presentation in all business-to-business publishing,” says David Squires, group editorial director of SmartWork Media. “Awards like these mean a lot to us. But they still will never mean as much as the true passion for our products that we see every day in notes and letters from professional readers in the three vertical industries we cover.”

The six FOLIO Eddie and Ozzie awards bring the company’s total since 2004 to 148, making SmartWork Media one of the most highly decorated publishers, per title, in the world.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
