(PRESS RELEASE) The countdown to the INTERGEM 2018 is underway: from 28 September to 1 October the fair at the gates of Idar-Oberstein will become the international meeting place of the gemstone community. The approximately 120 exhibitors expect to welcome over 3,000 visitors. “The INTERGEM reflects the sector in concentrated form. Nowhere else is there such a unique density of global market offers,” says fair Managing Director Kai-Uwe Hille. “Here trade visitors have the ideal opportunity prior to the beginning of Christmas trading to secure raw materials for individual jewellery in the form of gemstones in all price categories, as well as premium jewels and designer jewellery. Nearly everyone who is anyone in this segment is present here. This means that each year the INTERGEM becomes the most important calling card for local firms, but the attraction of the INTERGEM also extends far beyond the borders of the region itself.”
When it comes to high-quality gemstones and innovations regarding cuts, Idar-Oberstein remains a globally-significant centre for this traditional industry. The craftsmanship nurtured here, the business relationships with the leading production sites around the world that have been built up over the course of generations together with the number of institutions present is unique. KaiUwe Hille: “The INTERGEM is the most important image bearer for the industry. Over the four days of the fair visitors can find here a distillation of the international gemstone sector.” In spite of the wide range of offers, the fair nevertheless remains a manageable size, characterised by a clear focus that ensures an efficient purchasing experience. There is still space here for the direct interaction with experts, as well as with the family-run companies. “The INTERGEM maintains a family atmosphere, despite the professionalism of offers and the international nature of exhibitors and visitors,” says Kai-Uwe Hille. “Here jewellery creators can discuss their specific requests and requirements in great detail with the gemstone cutters, finding individual solutions.”
This year, once again, fair management has come up with a comprehensive support programme. The highlight, at 2 pm on the Saturday of the fair, is a round table discussion in co-operation with the trade journal GZ on the future of Idar-Oberstein as a location. In brief: the INTERGEM 2018 is once again a potent elixir that will invigorate trade in the sparkling natural beauties.
