It’s set for June 3.

Jewelers for Children will hold the 20th Anniversary Facets of Hope event on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The first Facets of Hope event was held in Las Vegas on June 6, 1999, at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Jeffrey Cohen of Citizen Watch America and Bill Luth of Signet Jewelers Ltd. have agreed to serve as honorees for the special anniversary celebration.

The event will celebrate the success of JFC’s fundraising efforts for the year and commitments to the charity partners will be announced, along with celebrating the success of the charity over the years. Updates on some of the children JFC has helped in the past 20 years will be provided showing where they are today and how their lives have changed. In 2017, nearly 1,750 industry guests attended during the Las Vegas market events. Both Cohen and Luth have agreed to serve as guests of honor at the event with the responsibility of assisting JFC in raising funds to benefit children who are the victims of catastrophic illness or life-threatening abuse and neglect.

“What an accomplishment and what a special celebration this Facets of Hope will be for Jewelers for Children,” said Pamela Mortensen, JFC Board chair. “Jeffrey and Bill are the perfect honorees for us as we mark this important milestone for the industry and the support of children in need.”

The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the South Seas Ballroom on the third level of the hotel with cocktails, followed by dinner and the program beginning at 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending or sponsoring can contact JFC at (212) 687-2949 or info@jewelersforchildren.org. Details and participation forms are available at the JFC website, www.jewelersforchildren.org. Following dinner, attendees can enjoy an after-party which will include dessert and drink options, all sponsored by Hallmark.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
