Ms. Yang holds twenty years of experience as an accomplished merchandising and buying professional for notable brands, including David Yurman, Lightbox, John Hardy, Diane von Furstenberg, and Vera Wang. She holds considerable experience working in international markets spanning the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

“My practice motto is, ‘I use data to support and initiate my creative decisions,’” said Yang of her decision to join Jocalio. “And when I met the Jocalio team, I thought, ‘what a breath of fresh air – someone is finally utilizing data when creating collections!’”

“Yun’s addition to the Jocalio team marks yet another milestone in our company development,” said Val Katayev, founder & CEO of Jocalio. “With Yun leading the product and merchandising team, we continue to elevate our ability to empower independent jewelers through a unique blend of design and data that drives our company. It’s all about jewelry that looks amazing, yet is also made to turn effectively.”

As Chief Merchandising Officer at Lightbox Jewelry (a DeBeers brand), Yang oversaw the launch of their innovative lab-grown diamond jewelry collection while directing strategy for all aspects of brand growth in merchandising, design, product development, and demand planning.

While overseeing Merchandising and Buying at David Yurman and John Hardy, Yang increased sales in their men’s assortment while managing women’s and seasonal bridal assortments. Yang also collaborated with the design teams in both men’s and women’s while streamlining product offerings for the retail, wholesale, and international markets.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
