(PRESS RELEASE) OMAHA, NE – In a ceremony in front of Borsheims employees, Gift Sales Supervisor Jodi Farley was announced as the winner of Borsheims’ Ike It Award.
The award is named for longtime Borsheims owner Ike Friedman and honors Ike’s legacy of customer service, commitment, hard work, loyalty and dedication. Farley was nominated and selected for the award by her coworkers.
Farley has worked at Borsheims since 2002, starting as a sales associate in the gift department. Since then, she has worked in the warehouse as receiving merchandise coordinator and as the bridal registry coordinator. In 2017, she was promoted to gift sales supervisor. Her coworkers say that she makes work fun and is professional, calm and thoughtful, and that she is great at keeping confidences.
Borsheims President and CEO Karen Goracke said Farley makes Borsheims a better place. “She not only takes care of our customers but makes the staff feel special, too,” Goracke said. “Her willingness to help every customer and every coworker is just what Ike would’ve wanted. We’re so thrilled to celebrate her with the Ike It Award.”
The Ike It Award was started at Borsheims in 1992, just a year after Ike Friedman’s death. The award is a tribute to Ike’s legacy, honoring someone who demonstrates exceptional customer service, a willingness to help, and an enthusiasm for Borsheims. Four Decades of Excellence: How Wilkerson Transformed a Jeweler's Retirement into Celebration
After 45 years serving the Milwaukee community, Treiber & Straub Jewelers owner Michael Straub faced a significant life transition. At 75, the veteran jeweler made a personal decision many business owners understand: "I think it's time. I want to enjoy my wife with my grandchildren for the next 10, 15 years."
Wilkerson's expertise transformed this major business transition into an extraordinary success. Their comprehensive approach to managing the going-out-of-business sale created unprecedented customer response—with lines forming outside the store and limits on how many shoppers could enter at once due to fire safety regulations.
The results exceeded all expectations. "Wilkerson did a phenomenal job," Straub enthuses. "They were there for you through the whole thing, helped you with promoting it, helping you on day-to-day business. I can't speak enough for how well they did." The partnership didn't just facilitate a business closing; it created a celebratory finale to decades of service while allowing Straub to confidently step into his well-earned retirement.
