The sighting: Fans already know that the central couple of “Summer House”, Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula, have divorced since the end of the show’s current season … but that doesn’t make it any less poignant and bittersweet to witness Cooke making a genuine effort to strengthen their relationship by presenting a delighted Batula with a Cartier watch for her birthday in Season 10, episode 6 of “Summer House”.
The jewels: Amanda Batula’s birthday watch is a Cartier Baignoire. The timepiece features 18K yellow gold, a black leather strap, and a sapphire cabochon and is currently listed on Cartier’s website for $9,000.
Cartier describes this watch as “the essence of Cartier style” and “an unmatched marriage of purity and timeless chic.”
The trends: Watches have never been hotter as a fashion girl accessory! Influencers, celebs, and those who follow them are very into high end wristwear right now.
Will Amanda Batula’s birthday watch moment propel this trend further into the stratosphere? I’d say yes: “Summer House” is one of Bravo’s strongest shows right now and Amanda Batula – already a cool girl style icon – is poised to be the next Bravo leading woman to follow the Ariana Maddox path of reaching new heights of fame after a public breakup.
What do we think? Longtime fans of “Summer House” (including yours truly) will never forget the Season 6 episode where Cooke reveals he didn’t bother to buy Batula a gift for her 30th birthday. The progression from “I didn’t know what to get, so I got nothing” to buying Batula a very nice Cartier watch – which she had apparently pointed out in the past – is a very impressive level of improvement.
The watch itself is a beautiful choice: classically chic but unfussy and a perfect complement to Batula’s understated but fashion-forward personal style. And the gift led to a very sweet moment where you could tell that Batula felt loved and appreciated.
The couple still decided to divorce shortly afterwards, but hopefully Batula’s shiny new Cartier watch will be a reminder of the good times for her as she and Cooke move forward in their new, separate lives.
Judgement: 12/10 for a fantastic present that still doesn’t make up for all those nights of DJ gigs.
