Judge the Jewels: Blake Lively Fell in Love With This Vintage Sapphire Ring During a Magazine Shoot

The sighting: Blake Lively recently starred in a glamorous jewel-filled Vogue photo spread (she even got to wear a piece from Elizabeth Taylor’s collection). It was epic, but we’re focusing on what happened behind the scenes: Blake Lively fell in love with a vintage ring that had been pulled for the shoot and bought it for her personal collection immediately. The actress hasn’t been photographed in her new treasure yet, but we have the inside scoop from dealer Particulieres.

Let’s take a look at the piece that was so special that it stood out even among the other legendary jewels Lively wore that day.

The jewels: The ring that stole Blake Lively’s heart is an exquisitely crafted vintage piece from NYC vintage dealer Particulieres.

Featuring two large, lush bezel-set blue sapphires and a shimmering array of diamonds, this striking vintage ring is the work of Dinh Van, a popular Vietnamese/French designer from the 1960’s-70’s who designed both under his own name and for Cartier.

The trends: Toi et moi rings have been an ongoing trend for the past few years, and while their popularity in bridal may have slowed down a bit, they’re still extremely desirable as cocktail rings.

Gemstone rings – especially in cool colors like blue and green – are trending, too, although green has been outperforming blue so far in 2024.

Lively also mentioned in her Vogue interview that she bought the ring to commemorate a professional accomplishment that she was proud of, celebrating a September achievement with September’s birthstone. Ascribing that kind of symbolic meaning to a self-purchase is something that really resonates with current consumers.

What do we think? It’s hard not to be delighted by a story like this: a celeb sees a vintage piece pulled for a shoot, falls in love, buys it on the spot – and then tells the story in Vogue, making sure to shout out the seller by name. Blake Lively has gotten some less than enthusiastic publicity lately for her comments about her most recent movie, but her obvious passion for jewelry remains absolutely delightful.

Let’s all keep an eye out for this gorgeous ring’s paparazzi photo debut!

Judgement: 16/10 for a stunning ring and a celeb who buys herself jewels & tells the world where she got them.

Retiring? Let Wilkerson Do the Heavy Lifting

Retirement can be a great part of life. As Nanji Singadia puts it, “I want to retire and enjoy my life. I’m 78 now and I just want to take a break.” That said, Nanji decided that the best way to move ahead was to contact the experts at Wilkerson. He chose them because he knew that closing a store is a heavy lift. To maximize sales and move on to the next, best chapter of his life, he called Wilkerson—but not before asking his industry friends for their opinion. He found that Wilkerson was the company most recommended and says their professionalism, experience and the homework they did before the launch all helped to make his going out of business sale a success. “Wilkerson were working on the sale a month it took place,” he says. “They did a great job.”
