The sighting: Actress Dakota Johnson recently attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie Daddio in a see-through slip dress accessorized with a very distinctive piece of Tiffany & Co jewelry.

The jewels: Dakota Johnson’s long necklace is a BoHo take on Elsa Peretti’s famous Bean design for Tiffany & Co.

The exact necklace is listed on Tiffany’s website for $10,200 and features a 29 x50 mm version of the iconic Bean in green jade, captured in a hand-woven silk net on a 30 inch long silk chain and suspending a luxurious silk tassel.

If you like the style but not the price, Tiffany’s offers the same design with a silver bean for $1,350.

Shoutout to WWWJewels for identifying this piece! I had no idea what it was on my own.

The trends: This kind of luxe BoHo style is big with the spiritual crystal-loving girlies, who remain an enthusiastic demographic that enjoys buying pretty, meaningful stones. The Bean itself is also in line with the 90’s and early 2000’s vintage style revival.

As for the specific design: it’s definitely trendy, but I honestly think I’ve seen other brands do this better than Tiffany’s. For example, Hey Babe LA’s signature Elo necklace offers a similar silhouette with a flexible gold or silver net that opens so that you can swap out the gemstone inside! How fun is that?

My point here is twofold: this is a trendy enough look that the market has excellent options available, and I think HeyBabe LA’s version is more tempting than Tiffany’s. (And that tourmaline beauty on the left just won an Instore Design Award!)

What do we think? I went through a whole journey with this look. I thought “Why is Dakota Johnson wearing some stringy tassel thing around her neck?” and then I looked more closely and realized there was a gemstone caught up in those strings, and I was much more intrigued.

I honestly didn’t even know that the Bean came like this! It’s so fun to see a classic that can take so many different forms – and this particular iteration feels very outside the box for Tiffany, which makes it even more satisfying.

That said…I am not sure this is the right dress for this necklace? The middle of this ensemble is very busy, with the lace and the necklace and the transparency all happening in the same area. The BoHo vibe is on point, but I dislike that everything about this look draws the eye directly to Dakota Johnson’s navel and visible underwear rather than her face.

Judgement: 8/10 for a look with very stylish elements that could be working better together than they are.
