The sighting: Musical artist Dua Lipa finally confirmed her engagement to Callum Turner! She has been spotted in the ring before, but she only officially announced the big news this month.

Let’s discuss the ring!

The jewels: Lipa’s engagement ring is magnificently on trend. It’s a chunky yellow gold cigar-band style ring with a center diamond that looks like it might be an antique cut. The center stone is flush-set and low-profile, making it a remarkably unfussy design for a celebrity engagement ring.

According to InStyle, the ring features 18K yellow gold with a center stone that is estimated to be around 2 carats – but could be 3 or even 4 – and is likely worth at least $65,000 but potentially as much as $125,000.

People cites another expert who believes the ring is likely worth around $200,000 to $270,000, if the stone is a large, high-quality natural diamond. But no one knows for sure.

The trends: Chunky gold rings have been trending for a minute, but this is the first time they’ve made the leap onto an A-list celebrity’s ring finger. I am interested to see how far this trend can spread.

With lab grown-diamonds making larger center stones accessible to more shoppers, a huge, thick band of expensive gold is perhaps a more definite indicator of luxury than a big rock is.

What do we think? This ring is a breath of fresh air! I’m so tired of writing about celebrities with whisper-thin pavé platinum engagement rings with oval diamonds. Lipa’s ring is of-the-moment and feels like a great match for her style.

I’d love a closer look at that center diamond. The way it seems to catch the light in photos makes me think it might be an antique diamond, but I haven’t found definite info or a close-up that confirms it.

Judgement: 15/10 for a cool, outside-the-box celeb engagement ring.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
