The sighting: Gird your loins, fans of The Devil Wears Prada, because we’ve got our first look at Anne Hathaway in costume as Andy Sachs from the movie’s upcoming sequel and there is some very interesting jewelry in play.
The jewels: Hathaway has been spotted filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 in several different outfits, but the star is wearing the same three necklaces in almost all of them.
The first piece is the Marlo Laz Squash Blossom bead choker in 14K yellow gold. Inspired by American Southwest style, the necklace is made from custom-crafted beads and is listed on the designer’s website for $26,800.
The second piece is the Jemma Wynne Forme Emerald-cut Diamond Toggle Pendant Necklace. This 18K yellow gold design features a toggle detail inspired by antique watch chains topped with an emerald-cut diamond (0.80 TCW) and is listed online for $14,910.
The final necklace is a strand of pearls, collar-length, that appears to have a gold pendant or enhancer. I have scoured the internet and can find nothing on this piece, which means either its designer hasn’t come forward, it was made for the movie, or it’s vintage.
The actress is also wearing a few stacking rings and a watch or slim cuff bracelet in the photos — but no visible wedding or engagement rings.
The trends: I love that the movie’s costumers decided that the 2025 ultra-chic Andy Sachs would have a go-to necklace daily stack. It’s a strong statement about what the movie is getting ready to define as the pinnacle of fashion for this current moment.
What do we think? The sequel to the movie that gave us the quote “Fashion is not about utility. An accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity” will need to take its costuming very seriously, and these early shots are a great sign for what’s to come.
This is a thoughtful necklace stack with varying textures and materials, featuring at least two cool independent designers – exactly how I would want a serious fashionista to accessorize in 2025.
I love that we’re seeing the same necklaces with multiple outfits; it feels like a touch of reality. But speaking of reality, Andy Sachs must really have come up in the world to be rocking a daily necklace stack that’s worth a minimum of $40,000. I love that for her, but does it feel realistic? We’ll have wait for the movie to decide.
Judgement: 99/10 for what feels like a really promising first look at this sequel.
