The sighting: Gabby Barrett led an enthusiastic crowd in a singalong of her megahit, “I Hope,” during Nashville’s Big Bash, a New Year’s Eve party. The country singer was radiant under the lights and so was her jewelry.

The jewels: Barrett showed off some serious NYE bling with the Kendall Earrings by Nickho Rey in soulful garnet. They’re a dramatic style featuring four lines of garnets suspended from a horizontal garnet-encrusted bar topped by garnet triangles. The deep garnet red was the perfect complement to the artist’s iconic song about anger after heartbreak.

Gabby-Barrett-earringsThe earrings are rose gold vermeil and listed on Nickho Rey’s website for $378.

The trends: Celebrities love this kind of extra-wide earring that features a series of cascading drops from a horizontal line. It’s a fun and dramatic take on the classic chandelier and the extra width is still unusual enough that it feels daring.

Barrett herself recently wore gold earrings with a similar silhouette in promo photos for her 2021 CMAs performance, so we know she’s a fan of this trend.

What do we think? I have no nits to pick at all on this one. The look is suitably dramatic for a pop star on NYE with the added bonus of garnet being the perfect color both for a winter event AND for a song with a strong revenge vibe.

Judgement: 10/10 for singing a great song while wearing great earrings.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
