The sighting: Actress Halle Berry recently graced the cover of the Forbes “50 Over 50″ issue in golden velvet, a wavy bob, and two fantastic necklaces.

The jewels: You only get a glimpse of these two necklace on the cover, thanks to some image cropping that I do not approve of, but luckily, a wider shot of Berry’s outfit is featured in the story (and all over the internet).

The actress is wearing two necklaces: the Circa 1700 Mariner Knife Edge Link Chain with a Circa 1700 Loving Hand Mechanical Clasp, and a 1970s 18K yellow gold coin necklace from For Future Reference Vintage.

Both necklaces are bold enough to stand alone and chunkier than we normally expect layering necklaces to be – and they also overlap instead of carefully hanging at different lengths.

The trends: This a perfect example of where necklace layering stands in 2025. Jewelry lovers still love to layer, but the layering has become less careful, less dainty, less regimented.

The modern neck stack is more of a “neck mess,” to use the term coined on Instagram by designer Jessica Kagan Cushman – a combination of necklaces that appear to be flung casually together, their haphazard placement exuding an insouciant whimsy and devil-may-care elegance rather than carelessness.

What do we think? This looks awesome. The combination of these two necklaces creates a beautiful textural moment that complements Berry’s outfit and wavy hair perfectly.

I also love how the intersecting lengths of the two necklaces help this photo feel more casual and less stiff, communicating that the actress is comfortable in her own skin in a way that feels ideal for a “50 Over 50” story.

Judgement: 50/10 for the perfect layers to nail this casually glamorous look.

97 Years of Family History, One Right Decision: How Malloves Jewelers Found the Right Partner to Close with Grace

Marc Levin’s grandfather Max founded Malloves Jewelers in Middletown, CT, in 1928. Nearly a century later, Marc — the third-generation owner — knew it was time to retire. He’d watched friends and fellow jewelers navigate store closings with Wilkerson’s help, and their recommendations were hard to ignore. Once he connected with the Wilkerson team, the decision was clear. “They made me feel like family,” he says. Wilkerson’s team handled every detail day by day, kept Marc informed every step of the way and delivered results that met and exceeded his financial goals. Watch Marc share the story of Malloves Jewelers’ final chapter — and why he slept soundly through all of it.
