The sighting: Georgina Rodriguez, longtime girlfriend of famous soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, just revealed on Instagram that they are engaged. As one might expect for such a high-profile couple, the ring is noteworthy. Let’s discuss!

The jewels: The ring is an enormous oval diamond that appears to have two smaller oval sides stones. And by “smaller,” I mean still sizable, but itty bitty next to that boulder in the center.

While there is no public information yet about the ring’s stats or maker, Only Natural Diamonds has called the stone a natural diamond and speculated on Instagram that the sparkler looks to be around 30 carats and likely cost at least $3 million.

Julia Chafe of @JewelswithJewels seconds the estimate, saying the ring looks like it could be 35 carats and likely D flawless, based on Rodriguez’s established jewelry taste and Ronaldo’s net worth, which would put the price at “at least” $3 million.

The Daily Mail estimates the ring is worth up to $5 million, and Tobias Kormind, managing director of 77 Diamonds, seconds that larger figure.

According to The Spun, Ronaldo makes approximately $200 million per year, which breaks down to $16 million per month — so that ring’s potential cost pretty much has no limit.

The trends: Engagement ring center diamonds have been growing steadily larger since labs became common in the market, and recent celebrity engagements have been encouraging that trend to continue with generous stone sizes.

I thought we were seeing the oval trend die down, but it’s possible that such a high-profile oval will revitalize desire for that stone shape just as it was starting to wane.

What do we think? Some online sources are comparing Rodriguez’s ring to Lauren Sanchez’s similarly enormous rock, but I find Rodriguez’s ring to be much better proportioned than the First Lady of Amazon’s unwieldy, tiny-pronged iceberg.

Is this ring almost cartoonishly enormous? Absolutely. But that egg of a diamond sits nicely on her finger, balanced by its two side stones, and the prongs we can see in the photo look to be satisfyingly thick, so I think this is a much better take on “biggest diamond possible” than some others we’ve seen recently.

Judgement: 30/10 because this is exactly the kind of ridiculous bling I like to see from major sports stars.

When Trey Bailey, President and CEO of Bailey's Fine Jewelry, decided to close the Crabtree location in Raleigh, North Carolina after 15 years, he knew the decision needed to be handled with intention and professionalism. The goal was clear: exit the location while maintaining financial strength and honoring the store's legacy. Having worked with Wilkerson successfully in the past, Bailey understood the value of their comprehensive approach. "They understood both the emotional and financial sides of the store closing sale," Trey explains. "Their reputation for professionalism, results and care made it a very easy decision." The results exceeded expectations. Wilkerson helped Bailey's sell through significant inventory while maintaining the dignity of the closing process. "They don't just run a sale, they help close a chapter in the best way possible," Bailey says, strongly recommending Wilkerson to any jeweler facing a similar transition.
