Judge The Jewels: Is Lashana Lynch’s Garrard Suite Awe-Inspiring or Overwhelming?

She wore a ring, a pair of earrings, and (my favorite) a spectacular statement necklace.

The sighting: Actress Lashana Lynch walked the London premiere of her movie The Woman King in a very sparkly Jenny Packham gown and cape. But the glitz didn’t stop there: she adorned this already high-voltage outfit with a suite of Garrard jewels.

The jewels: Lynch is wearing the entire Garrard Cosmos High Jewellery suite: a ring, a pair of earrings, and (my favorite) a spectacular statement necklace.

According to the brand, the Garrard Cosmos High Jewelry suite was “inspired by the pattern of diamonds that encircles the base of the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara – the same tiara worn by HM Queen Elizabeth on the front of every British banknote.”

The pieces of the Cosmos suite feature white, yellow, and champagne diamonds set in white and yellow 18K gold. The Cosmos Earrings have a total diamond weight of 8.44 carats and are priced at $80,000. The Cosmos Ring has a total diamond weight of 2.95 carats and is priced at $22,000. The Cosmos Necklace has a total diamond weight of 35.48 carats is priced at $260,000.

The trends: Colored diamonds, all-diamond red carpet jewels, and matching suites on the red carpet are all trends in evidence here.

What do we think? Online reactions to this look were extremely polarized: people either loved it or hated it.

I am firmly in the “loved it” camp. Yes, it’s a lot, but this isn’t an average day! This is an actress at the premiere for a movie called The Woman King, which is about an all-female group of powerful warriors who protect their kingdom against a threat. Lynch’s sartorial splendor at the premiere feels like a nod of respect to the characters in the film, women whose strength deserves to be celebrated while robed in gold and jewels.

You know I like it when celebs bring the drama, and the drama is fully present here. Lashana Lynch went full Woman King with this look and I am into it.

Judgement: 14/10 for a regal deployment of high-volume sparkle.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
