The sighting: Actress Jenna Ortega’s style is often a bit Gothic, but she’s strongly channeling her iconic Wednesday character’s darkly dramatic style for her Wednesday Season 2 press tour appearances. One such look, her ensemble for the show’s Paris premiere, involved some especially spectacular jewelry. Let’s take a look!

The jewels: Ortega is wearing all black jewelry with her Wednesday-inspired ensemble.

The earrings are Bondeye Jewelry’s Aphrodite Diamond & Black Spinel Hoop Earrings, which feature a diamond-accented 14K yellow gold hoop suspending a long black spinel drop. The style is available on Bondeye Jewelry’s website for $2,850.

Ortega is also wearing several pieces by Loree Rodkin, a designer known for her rock ‘n roll Gothic edge: a chunky 18K white gold signet ring with a cross in black diamond pavé, a triple-band ring with black rhodium and black diamond pavé, and finally a large 14K white gold cross pendant with black diamond pavé on a black rhodium and black diamond chain (20.19 total carats of diamonds).

The trends: The recent ’90s style revival has brought a healthy dose of witchy, darkly romantic vibes with it, especially given the recent success of witch-centered media like Wednesday and Wicked. So far, the trend has been pretty self-contained, but if Ortega keeps looking so good in black rhodium jewels, we might see that trend taking off too.

What do we think? I have two thoughts about this ensemble. First, Ortega looks fantastic. This outfit precisely walks the line between costume and haute couture and comes down feeling like a perfectly on-theme, chic high fashion moment. It doesn’t feel like she walked out of her show in Wednesday’s clothes, but you know instantly which project she’s promoting. The black jewels against the brown and beige outfit are so dramatic in just the right way, and the huge cross and black diamond pavé feel like a stylish Gothic-inspired dream.

But I must also say this: In Wednesday, Ortega’s character is friends with demons, mythical creatures and magical beings. Like most fantasy of its genre, Wednesday sidesteps the question of how Christian belief systems fit into its magical world by simply not mentioning religion. It feel a liiiiiiittle jarring to see the star actress dressed in the show’s theme but wearing multiple symbols of a religion that doesn’t fit into the fictional world she’s referencing. It rings a slightly discordant note for me, even though she looks very cool.

Judgement: 9/10 for a very cool look that had me overthinking its symbolism.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
