The sighting: Actress Lindsay Lohan pulled out all the stops when she chose her outfit for Freakier Friday’s premiere, the long-awaited sequel to the actress’s wildly popular 2003 movie, Freaky Friday. Lohan has been enjoying a career second act that is rare for former child stars like her who burned out young, and the outfit that she wore for this event suggests that she knows exactly what she’s doing and how remarkable it is.

The jewels: Lindsay Lohan’s jewels for the night were Lorraine Schwartz, according to the actress’s Instagram tags – but that’s also pretty easy to guess based on the style and carat weight of the jewels.

The necklace is a wonderfully dramatic collar of pink and white rose-cut diamonds, culminating in a large, flat pear-shaped diamond drop. The chandelier earrings were obviously made to match, each suspending three rows of similarly-shaped diamonds.

The actress also sports one ring, a piece with two more large rose cut diamonds and a very dainty yellow gold bracelet that doesn’t match any of her other jewelry. I’m guessing the dainty bracelet is a personal piece that Lohan either forgot to remove or kept on for sentimental reasons.

The trends: Unusual diamond shapes like rose cuts are becoming increasingly well-known. They’re still not a frequent sighting when it comes to the day-to-day jewels of real customers, but they are creeping into the common jewelry vernacular.

What do we think? I love this look SO MUCH. The flowing pink Miu Miu gown with its crystal straps and sparkling polka dots, the sparkling microphone minaudiere, the jewelry!!!! I’m incoherent with delight.

Some people would have seen this gown’s embellishments and thought “okay, this is enough sparkle, let’s keep the jewels subtle” but those people would have been fools, because accessorizing this glorious garment with a full suite of sparkling pink and white rose cut diamonds was absolutely the perfect choice.

The rose cuts’ broad facets mean the jewelry shimmered softly, rather than aggressively glittering like round brilliant cuts would. The effect was ethereal and lovely, like the gentle reflection of water on a lake surrounded by pink wildflowers.
Why do celebrities ever wear anything boring when they have wonders like this as an option?

Judgement: 13,000/10 because I love this so much that I’ve been making everyone in my life look at these photos (even though they keep saying things like “oh yeah, that’s very you,” which makes me suspect they don’t appreciate it adequately).

What do YOU think?

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
